melbourne - All Rivers

2-day escape to the historic river port of Echuca

The “All Rivers” tour takes you into the very heart of Victorian Heritage,  traversing  the vast Goldfields and visiting historic Maldon and Bendigo.  The Port of Echuca is the destination where the visitors will step back in time with a ride on a famous Murray River paddle steamer.  Accommodation in a leading Echuca motel. Dinner and entry to all attractions as listed.  Tour is fully escorted by local accredited tour operators.

A bit of History

The great gold rush 1851-1870: thousands of miners from all over the world swarmed to the region in search of the “Mountain of Gold”. These pioneers forged a new nation.

Tour itinerary

Day 1 9.00 a.m.

Depart from Melbourne and travel out the Calder Highway, and over the Great Dividing Range to Maldon (plenty of time to browse some of the buildings, all classified), lunch available from a wide selection of food outlets before the short drive to Bendigo.  Tour through the City of Bendigo and Pall Mall will reveal the colourful mining past.  Later we arrive at the River Port of Echuca/Moama, and check into a leading motel.  Free night, clubs etc

Day 2

After a hearty breakfast it is all aboard a famous Paddlesteamer for a cruise on the Mighty Murray.  Plenty of time to soak up the atmosphere on our greatest river.  A scenic river drive into the Kanyapella, Yambuna & Wyuna regions. This is truly pristine Australian bush land, billabongs and delightful Goulburn River.  Many species of Forest and Water birds flourish in this remote region. The journey home will take us through Kyabram (opportunity to purchase lunch) then onto Rushworth and Nagambie.  Visit to a couple of Central Victorian Wineries will be a further highlight.
