This
is the 80th edition of our free monthly newsletter "Travelling Victoria".
Back on June 17, 2000 we sent out 56 "Tourism Updates" as it was known
then; this month we are sending over 1,800. We still have people on our
data from the initial batch of 56, so if you think you may have been one
of them, please let us know, we will have to give you something for your
loyalty.
The
answer to last month's question is a "Kit" of pigeons flying together.
Our reference is Oxford. The lucky winner is Sabina Rosser from Prahran,
well done Sabina. Sabina has won a free couple of days camping and canoeing
on the Goulburn at one of the campsites in the Wyuna region. There will
be another chance to win later in this bulletin.
Thanks
also for all your kind remarks and comments about the newsletter and the
positive response to our membership package. We contacted 53 people from
our data base at random and 86% would like to become a member of the RCA
club for an annual subscription of just $10.00. 6% were not interested
and the remaining 8% were non-committed. Our main concern now is how to
receive payments, as we don't really want cash being sent in the mail.
We would welcome your cheque made payable to RCA forwarded to P.O. Box
153, Kyabram 3619, a receipt will be issued. Or you can forward crediy
card details by phone, again a receipt will be issued.

Being
part of a growing family tourism business. |
There is a Credit Card authority at the bottom
of this newsletter, which can be filled in and posted to RCA, P.O. Box
153, Kyabram 3619.
Thank you.
Milawa
A delightful North-Eastern township just begging for you to
visit. A three-story brick flour mill dating back to 1861 when Milawa
was the centre of a wheat-growing region can be seen as you approach.
Brown Brothers winery was established in 1880 by the same family that
ran the mill. As well as wine the town also produces mustards and home
made cheeses. You are not far from Ned Kelly country when you stop in
Milawa, and the alps can be easily seen in the distance. The nearby King
River is a beautiful clean stream coming from the mountains and over the
years has yielded some very nice fish.
Food for Thought
It is time to elect a new world leader and only your vote counts. Here
are the facts about the three candidates.
Candidate 1.
Associates with crooked politicians and consults with astrologists. He's
had two mistresses, chain smokes and drinks 8-10 martinis every day.
Candidate 2.
He was kicked out of office twice, sleeps until noon, used opium in college,
chain smokes and drinks a quart of whiskey every evening.
Candidate 3.
He is a decorated war hero. He's a vegetarian, doesn't smoke, drinks an
occasional beer and never cheated on his wife.
Which
of these candidates would you vote for?
Well here they are-
1. Franklin Roosevelt. 2. Winston Churchill.
3. Adolph Hitler.
Wine
Tours
With the cooler weather coming, now is a great time to arrange your winery
tour. River Country Adventours have plenty of options visiting
some leading Victorian Vineyards. The days are always fun and well organised.
We will also get you and your group home safely. For more information
and quotes, please contact Rob on 5852 2736 or email to info@adventours.com.au
Competition
Here
is you chance to win a free holiday canoeing, camping and fishing on the
beautiful Goulburn River at one of the Wyuna campsites. All you have to
do is correctly answer the question, all correct entries go into a 'hat'
for the draw around May 10. The competition is still free to enter but
from the July newsletter only financial members of the RCA club will be
eligible to win. Your $10.00 subscription can be paid now giving you membership
until June 30, 2007.
Q. Which century did Ned Kelly live in?
A. info@adventours.com.au
Whale
Tours
We are still taking bookings and expressions of interest for the annual
flight tours to Ceduna in South Australia to see the magnificent Southern
Right Whales that come from the cold waters around Antarctica to calve
in the warmer waters of the Great Australian Bight. The tours begin in
Shepparton and fly to Mildura and Port Augusta before landing at Ceduna.
The flight home follows the rugged coastline to Port Lincoln, over Adelaide
and onto Horsham before returning to Shepparton. The 3-day whale tour
has a photo gallery on
this website.
Best
Pies in Victoria?
Eating pies is a great Australian pleasure. We want to know from you which
bakery makes the best pies in the State. The bakery can be anywhere in
the City or the Country Towns. We will certainly give the bakery good
publicity, so please let us know which is your favourite pie shop. Looking
forward to your email - rob@adventours.com.au
