Welcome
once again to another of our monthly bulletins, trusting this will help
your decide on your next trip into Regional Victoria. The lucky winner
of the competition associated with last month's newsletter is Patricia
Magee from Scoresby in Victoria, well done Patricia. Bing Crosby featured
in the most movies with 77, followed by Frank Sinatra with 60 and then
Elvis Presley with 31. There will be a further chance to enter later in
this newsletter.
During the month we had the pleasure of Joy Charteris and her family on
the Goulburn. Joy was the winner of Vol: 76 with the "Wedge" of flying
swans. There is a nesting swan near Yambuna Bridge and Joy thought this
was fantastic. So please enter the competition, you never know your luck.
Also this lovely message arrived and we wanted to share with you .....
Dear
Rob & Joan,
" Wishing you a very prosperous 2006. It is always good to receive your
news letters. I don't know how you manage to find so many items of interest
to include in the news letters, but the fact that you do makes it all
the more enjoyable reading for us. Please keep up the good work, as I
for one appreciates the information. Hope you are well, and we look forward
to our next river adventure"
Warm regards
Marianne
Ideal conditions
A good flush of water down the Goulburn River has made canoeing and fishing
ideal. Usually, at this time of the year the environmental flow goes down
the Murray, giving relief for agriculture further down stream and into
South Australia. Because of damage to the banks in the Barmah region,
it was decided to send this huge volume of water down the Goulburn. The
higher level is expected to remain for some time, so if you are thinking
about canoeing, book in as we have never seen the river so good at Wyuna.
Competition
Here is your chance to win a free holiday camping, canoeing and fishing
on the beautiful Goulburn River at Wyuna. All you have to do is correctly
answer the poser and your name goes into the hat for the draw around March
10.
Q. Which famous Australian poet and story writer was born first, Henry

The Kanyapella Safari
There are 2-versions.
- Self guided,
that is you take all the gear in the bigger canoes and find the two
camping spots along the way. We either get your vehicle/s to the finish
or drive you back upstream to where your car/s are safely parked. Larger
groups we arrange for a coach.
- The "Deluxe"
version; we set up the campsites along the way, placing a prominent
marker on the sandbars. We provide a portable industrial toilet and
supply lunch each day. This safari was designed for people who love
canoeing and the great outdoors, but don't like putting up tents at
the end of a days paddle.
For more
information on these special safaris and all the other options go to the
canoe section on our website- www.adventours.com.au
or give us a call on 5852 2736 anytime.

We now have an extended canoeing safari from Yarrawonga on the Murray
to Morgan's Beach.
Kookaburras
Are probably Australia's best known and most loved bird, except for their
early wake up calls in the bush. Kookaburras are very territorial and
at dawn will sit on a branch at the edge of their territory with 2 or
3 birds flying around emitting their familiar deafening choir. Meanwhile
Kookaburras from the neighouring clan observe quietly until the show is
finished, before they, too, put on a more spectacular performance. They
all reassemble for the evening show.
Flight
of the Pelican
One of our most popular 2-day coach tours that departs from Melbourne.
The tour will stop in Shepparton for overnight and on the way explore
the fascinating Whroo region of Central Victoria. This is where the last
great gold rush ended in 1870. The second day the tour travels to Barmah
Lakes for a 2-hour cruise on the "Kingfisher" and after this award winning
experience we will visit some of Victoria's finest wineries on the way
back to Melbourne. For more information and bookings for this very special
tour please contact Rob Asplin 5852 2736
or email- info@adventours.com.au
Whales
at Ceduna
Our winter flight tours are now taking bookings. We have 2-options, the
first is a 3-day tour to Ceduna to see the whales at the 'Head of the
Bight' and then a 4-day tour that will dedicate the last day to deep sea
fishing off Ceduna. For more information on these fantastic tours please
contact River Country Adventours. Last year there were in excess
of 100 whales with their calves congregating in the sea adjacent to the
Bunda cliffs. This is one of the best viewing areas in the world. The
tours can depart from Shepparton, Echuca or Bendigo.
