Welcome to the 70th edition of this monthly newsletter. If you are receiving
it for the first time we hope you continue to enjoy for many years to
come. Thanks for all the emails and support, your kind comments are greatly
appreciated.
The
latest winner of a free holiday camping and canoeing on the Goulburn River
at Wyuna is Jean McDowell from Portland. Well done Jean. Barmah Town is
in Victoria although due to a twist in the Murray it is actually the only
town in Victoria north of the Murray. To travel from NSW to Barmah you
approach the bridge from the south.
Sydney
to the Bush
We have some spectacular photos in the "Sydney to the Bush" gallery which
is now available on our website. Please take a few moments to have a look
and see which you think is the best photo and we will use it in future
promotions etc. Log on www.adventours.com.au
click onto the canoeing section and then click the Sydney Gallery. Enjoy,
and I look forward to your comments.
No
such thing or what?
Queensland challenged Victoria to a boat race which Queensland won by
200 metres. After the race the Victorian Government hired a consulting
firm to investigate and recommend some corrective action.
The consultants found the Queensland team had eight people rowing and
one person steering while the Vics had one person rowing and eight people
steering.
After a further year of study and several hundred million dollars, the
consultants concluded that there were too many people steering.
So, for the next race, the Victorians had three steering managers, four
area steering managers, one person steering and a new performance review
system for the person rowing.
The Queenslanders won the race by over 400 metres.
The Victorian Government sacked the rower for poor performance and gave
the consultants a huge bonus for solving the problem.
Competition
Here is another opportunity to win a free holiday camping and canoeing
on the Goulburn River at the Wyuna campsite. All you have to do is correctly
answer the poser and your name will go into the hat for the draw on July
10. Good luck.

Canoeing
at Seymour
We have made arrangements to have some of our canoes and gear at the Goulburn
Caravan Park in Seymour. This is a terrific location on the Goulburn River
and safaris can be arranged as well as just being able to paddle around
at the Park. Seymour is about an hour north of Melbourne, and I can thoroughly
recommend the Goulburn Caravan Park to you and your friends. For more
information phone the friendly owner Bernie Burke on 03. 5792 1530.
Diverse Business
River Country Adventours has plenty of product and services for
our clients. As well as the Canoes on the Goulburn with camping and safari
options, we have coach tours for large or small groups. These tours can
be winery or a scheduled tour to the many of the places of particular
interest within the State and beyond. We have tours developed over many
years for visitors holidaying or attending functions in Echuca, Bendigo,
Nagambie and Shepparton. One of the most popular tour is the Mystery Winery
Tours with courtesy collection from Melbourne and we hit the bush with
a fantastic day out. Probably the most important aspect is that we get
the group back home safely. For more information and detail, please contact

The
Herald/Sun Tour
This huge international event has been part of regional Victoria's culture
since 1952. The bicycle race is held in October each year and this year
will spend time in the Bendigo and Strathbogie Shires. It is estimated
that each day the tour generates about $100,000 to the local communities.
The week long event is certainly crucial towards promoting regional tourism
in Victoria. There will 160 riders taking part in this spectacular event.
