Welcome once again to our monthly newsletter, we hope you continue to
enjoy the contents and are delighted with the positive feedback received,
thank you. Last months lucky winner of a free holiday camping and canoeing
on the Goulburn River is Marcus Bryce from Highton. The Ashes Trophy is
associated with cricket, test matches between Australia and England. There
is an Ashes series later this year in England; who do you think will win
that?
Lucy, the paddling canine
Another first happened during the month. A lovely couple from Melbourne
booked in for a self-guided safari from Yambuna Bridge to Stewart's Bridge
a distance of 35-km with a camp about half way. Nothing unusual here,
except they had their beautiful long haired black & white three year old
border collie with them. With all the necessary gear required, there was
not too much room for "Lucy", but she loved the experience. I can not
think of another animal that would be able to spend around 9-hours sitting
in the one spot, can't imagine kids being that good. It shows the absolute
love and devotion a dog has with humans. Lucy was none the worse for the
adventure, and was wagging her tail happily when they arrived at the destination.
River Country Adventours welcomes owners to bring their dogs on holidays
in the bush, but remember not all dogs would like canoeing.
Where
is Barlow?
Regular readers would remember the story about the Eagle that was dramatically
rescued from drowning in the Murray in 1999. The remarkable recovery was
well documented and the story of 'Barlow the Eagle' features on the website.
The last positive sighting of the eagle with his distinctive white markings
under the left wing, was on June 30, 2004. Because we saw him so often
before, we are concerned for his well being. Sorry if this story has a
sad ending, but there is a chance he found a mate and flew way off to
make a new home far from the Barmah Forest. Let's hope so anyway. To read
the delightful story simply go to your search engine and enter Barlow
the Eagle or you can go to our website www.adventours.com.au
and click onto the 'News' section.

This article appeared in our local newspaper "Kyabram Free Press" from
the section of 100 years ago. We wanted to share this with you.
April 7, 1905
Whilst Mr. Balls motor car was standing in Tuckers Yard,
Kyabram, on Saturday last, some mean contemptible person was guilty of
putting a knife clean through the cover and the tube on one of the wheels,
making a cut of about 3 inches, and causing thereby considerable inconvenience
and loss of about 5 pounds. Mr. Balls is the visiting dentist to Kyabram.
