Just a reminder
that River Country Adventours will give the person who can convince me
and authorities that there is a big cat prowling around the Great Divide
in Victoria, with a free tour anywhere in Victoria. Plenty of alleged
sightings from the Grampians to Tallangatta, but no real prove of existence
yet.
The Cat Tree
Feral cats are causing plenty of environmental damage in Central Australia,
and on our recent tour to Lake Eyre, there is a tree beside the Oodnadatta
Track near William Creek that has over a dozen of these pests hanging,
a legacy of some crack shot in the outback. It was cruel however, referring
to them as the "Geelong Football Club".
Lake
Eyre Update
The huge lake has a vast amount of water and being so shallow it is not
expected to last more than a couple of months more. We have a couple more
flight tours arranged and with some vacancies. Well worth the visit, as
we flew across Lake Eyre on the way home, the water below appeared a beautiful
pink colour. It must have been the angle of the sun shining on the lake.

Australia Felix
In 1836, the early explorer Thomas Mitchell and his expedition were the
first Europeans to see the fertile plains that is Western Victoria. Four
of the party climbed Mt William hoping to at last see the ocean. They
pushed on, following the Glenelg River to the coast where at Portland
meet the farming Hently family. The "Australia Felix" small group tour
departs from Shepparton with pickup available in Melbourne and Geelong
on September 30 for 4-days in Western Victoria including quality time
in the massive Grampians. This tour is easy paced; all-inclusive, historic
and well organized. Further details from River Country Adventours.
The Rivers
We are ready for another canoeing and camping season. We have secured
a further camping site down stream from Yambuna Bridge. From here it is
a 2-day paddle to the Murray River at Echuca Village. For those who are
lucky enough to have visited our Wyuna campsite, this new area is just
as remote and beautiful. The river has had a good flush of water, and
the fishing will be good from now on, and the river ideal for canoeing,
camping, bushwalking and bird watching.
Competition
Another chance to win a free weekend camping and canoeing for one person
who is the first to email the correct answer to this question.
