We have our first international winner in the competition. Sebastian Nordgren
from Sweden was the first correct entry drawn from the hat on June 22.
There was a record number of entries and everyone knew that a Yellowbelly
is a native fish. Don't despond, there is another chance to win a free
weekend on the river later in this newsletter.
Risk Management
The world has changed which is a great pity. The adventure tourism industry
is suffering with stringent rules and regulations to be adhered to. With
our business River Country Adventours has public liability cover
for the next 12-months after passing an audit from the insurance company
with regards to our risk management policy. Earlier in June together with
5-other accredited operators were invited to meet with the Minister for
Tourism. The Minister was very generous with his time and many topics
were raised and discussed. In the future, tour operators will require
a risk management program in place in order to gain PLI. This is another
initiative of the Victorian Tourism Operators Association which is applauded.
The visit to Spring Street was the first time I had been inside Parliament
House, it certainly was an experience, very historic.
The
Green Heart of Victoria
A newly formed tourism region that is bounded by Shepparton and Kyabram
in the north and Rushworth Nagambie in the south. This beautiful area
of Victoria is not only a great destination but also a touring route.
A comprehensive map of the Green Heart is being prepared and will be available
from Visitor Information Centres throughout the State and from operators
as well as attractions within the region. Within the Green Heart flows
the beautiful Goulburn River, the life blood of the Goulburn Valley, the
Iron Bark Forest of Central Victoria, some of the finest wineries in the
State, heaps of things to see and do and the people are very friendly.
Thought
for the day
"In adversity, keep motivated, often the best comes from a long hard struggle."
David J. Schwartz.
And over heard in the pub "They should ban the goal keeper in soccer!"
yes it was old Jack again. Old Jack has something to say about everything.........every
town has one!

Did
you know?
In 1859 the grazier Thomas Austin imported wild rabbits from England and
released them on his property near Geelong. Within 10-years the rabbits
are in plague proportions and had spread to become one of Australia's
most destructive pests.

Winery
Tours
Our winery tours are very popular. For groups of at least 8 we can arrange
for courtesy collection around Melbourne and more importantly get you
home safely. The tours visit some of the leading wineries in Central Victoria,
and include lunch and nibbles along the way. Get the gang organized and
we will do the rest. For more information send an email to info@adventours.com.au
or give us a call on 5852 2736.
