Outback
Tours
River Country Adventours are taking expressions of interest and bookings
for special flight tours to the Australian Outback. For details and further
information email- flighttours@adventours.com.au
These tours are special and are for people who haven't the time nor inclination
to spend days with boring coach travel. We have developed flight tours
from Melbourne and Shepparton to Broken Hill and also William Creek and
Lake Eyre.
Kakadu
of Victoria
Thousands of tourists flock to Phillip Island daily to witness the penguin
parade. These cute little birds are an icon for tourism from Melbourne.
However, the lower Goulburn River is a sanctuary for a vast population
of forest and water birds, and the best way to view this pristine environment
is by canoe. The river here slowly meanders through the southern edge
of the huge Barmah Forest, the largest red gum mass in the world. Every
evening somewhere around three thousand water birds in their various formations
come back from the rivers to roost at the award winning Kyabram Fauna
Park. Next time you are in Kyabram around dawn and dusk, look up and see
a fantastic sight.
The
Old and the New
Nagmabie Lakes is one of the oldest wine growing regions in Australia.
The first vines were planted at Tahbilk Winery in 1860 making it one of
the States oldest vineyard. The new winery Kirwan's Bridge has just opened
the cellar doors making it the newest in Victoria. Kirwan's Bridge has
produced a very fine vintage and is open for business. River Country
Adventours will be conducting canoeing on the backwater of Lake Nagmabie
right behind the winery on April 7 & 14, 2002. If you are travelling anywhere
in Central Victoria, call in at Kirwan's Bridge Winery, you will be glad
you did.
The
Great Outdoors
The popular television travel show has filmed our "Canoes on the Goulburn"
and we are waiting to be slotted into a program. It is hoped that will
occur soon, and as soon as we hear something positive from Channel 7,
we will let you all know.
Barlow
the Eagle
Regular readers will recall "Barlow" the young Wedgetailed Eagle that
was rescued from certain death from the Murray last year. Well his remarkable
exploits are being featured in an article being arranged by a journalist
in Shepparton. Barlow has become a star, and I am looking forward to seeing
your story, John.
Easter
We have vacancies on the river for Easter, in fact we can handle another
group. For more information or bookings email- canoes@adventours.com.au
