The lucky winner of last month's competition is Philippa Shepherd. Philippa
and her friends will spend some quality time on the Goulburn River sometime
before Christmas. The correct answer was 1996, on grand final day in that
year "Canoes Plus" delivered our initial fleet of canoes and kayaks etc.
Snakes
Alive
A lot of people ask about snakes in the bush, and for some time we have
wanted to inform and educate the public about our reptiles. Firstly, snakes
are terrified of us, we are bigger and are seen as a threat. Secondly,
snakes are not interested in biting you.
Snakes
are not into eating scraps from campsites, and are very timid. Sure, there
are snakes in the bush and that is where they like to stay. Before you
set up camp anywhere in the bush, make a bit of noise to scare them away,
and if there are kookaburras around, pitch the tent there, snakes try
to avoid kookaburas. Remember that all snakes are a protected species
in Victoria, and if you see one just think how fortunate you are to witness
such a maligned creature.
Canoeing
Update
If you have been thinking about rounding up the gang and heading to the
river for a great time, now is about as good as it gets. The days are
warm and sunny and the nights with a million stars above, sitting around
a welcome campfire. There are no flies or mosquitoes about yet, and the
rivers are flowing well. Two nights camping with a day canoeing safari
thrown in, the cost is still $100.00 per person. We can arrange for an
industrial toilet, and later on we will be able to provide hot showers.

book in now you will be pleased that you did.
