Travelling Victoria
with River Country Adventours Volume 1: June 2000

This is the first of regular newsletter River Country Adventours will provide for you, your family and friends. We are fully accredited regionally based tour operators. We want to let you know about special tours and river and camping conditions as well as keeping you up to date with the latest in tourism.

Lake Eyre Trip
A unique opportunity exists to join River Country Adventours on a spectacular flight from Shepparton to William Creek, adjacent to Lake Eyre. The 3-day tour includes motel accommodation, tours of the desert, all meals and the views from the twin engine aeroplane. The lake is presently about half full and still filling from the north; the birds that are estimated in the millions are breeding again. For further details and information on forthcoming flights please get in touch with Rob. Phone 5852 2736 or e-mail- adventours@hdc.com.au.

Small Group Tours
Day and extended tours are always available for small groups from Melbourne to the many great places of interest in regional Victoria and beyond. We have developed a couple of terrific winery tours that are proving very popular, with young and older alike! So if you have a group looking for somewhere to go, let us give you some options.

Platypuses in the Goulburn
We have discovered further colonies of the shy aquatic animal near our main campsite at Yambuna. To see these beautiful creatures in the wild is a real bonus, and can happen on several of our canoeing safaris. The Goulburn River is the longest river in Victoria, and is ideal for canoeing most times during the year. River Country Adventours can provide all the necessary camping gear to make your getaway into the bush as pleasant as possible.

Early Birds
Believe it or not, but we had a complaint recently. Yes, a person actually gave me heaps about the racket the birds put on at dawn at our campsite! She wasn't sure if the kookaburras were the main culprits or the cockatoos. The sounds of the Australian bush, most people love it.

Keep in touch. If there is anything you would like to know about our tours, especially the "Flight to Eyre" or our "Canoes on the Goulburn", please let us know. You may even have some tourism experiences you would like to share with us.

Thanks for your time and we look forward to further contact.

Cheers,

Rob & Joan Asplin
