The River: The Goulburn is the longest river in Victoria, and one of the most beautiful. Water from the Goulburn irrigates half-a-million hectares (the food bowl). It is a deep and ancient river, which slowly meanders through the Australian bush and provides a habitat for many species of flora and fauna.

Camp at our lovely Wyuna Campsite

The Adventure: The Goulburn is ideal for canoeing, camping, bush walking and fishing. Between Shepparton and Echuca (the setting for our canoe adventures!) it flows through remote pristine bushland, in the southern region of huge Barmah Forest. Camp at our lovely Wyuna Campsite (30 km east of Echuca – Melway map 521 H/6), or other sites along the river bank. Canoe safaris can vary from hours to days and even weeks; we offer a choice of options match your appetite for adventure!

Accommodation: Camp on the banks of the Goulburn River (equipment available for hire) or choose from a range of motels, bed and breakfasts and hostels in nearby Echuca, Shepparton and Kyabram.

Heritage: Early European settlers relied on river water in the dry environment. The region is also rich with Aboriginal culture; the Dharnya Cultural Centre (Barmah), kitchen middens, canoe trees and sacred burial grounds are all within close proximity.

Birds and Native Animals: There are over 100 species of water and forest birds (including Eagles, Cockatoos, Kingfishers, Kookaburras, Galahs, Ducks and Emus), mammals (including Grey Kangaroos, Possums, Platypuses, Bats, Echidna and Gliders) and fish (Murray Cod, Yellowbelly, Silver Perch, Catfish, Red Fin, Crayfish & Carp) which can be observed in their natural environment.

The Operators: River Country Adventours are fully accredited tour operators (Reg.
